KING ARTHUR OPERA POSTER

RIAM's production of King Arthur was a semi-opera in five acts with music by Henry Purcell and a libretto by John Dryden. The unique aspect of this production of King Arthur was the focus on climate awareness, from set to costume to promotional materials.

CHALLENGES + OBJECTIVES
My objective was to communicate the story of King Arthur in a modern way, focusing on the character of Emmeline while showing consideration for the climate awareness surrounding the production incorporating natural leafy shapes, and producing a single-page alternative brochure.
OUTCOMES
The poster concept is primarily based on the silhouette of Emmeline as a complex and tormented character. The texture is used to convey textures and patterns found in the woodland, where much of the opera takes place. The delicate leafy shapes also help to reinforce the opera team’s awareness of the climate in their production by incorporating them into the main image.
