Everything Has Changed
Editorial + Print Design for ISTD, 2021
The brief asks for the selection of a publication that has influenced its audience and subsequently the world. The focus of this project is on the book "This Changes Everything" by Naomi Klein. 'Everything Has Changed' is a supplement that focuses on the work of Naomi Klein, the influence it has had and how the world has changed since.
The main aim of the design was to support the powerful content within. This was achieved with the use of bold type, copy and colour in combination. The main visual language of graphic elements is informed by this short descriptor:
"The fight against climate change is a sinister game of corporations versus civilians; of capitalism versus the climate. It's a game of Xs and Os. If we the civilians don't win this game, everyone loses."
With this in mind, the use of the Xs and Os are used throughout the piece to signify the tension between the two forces. The cover layout is inspired by dominoes; another classic game.
